    AnotáciaThe article analyses the peculiarities of sawn timber convection drying. There is a possibility to represent it as a relaxation process. The thermodynamic coefficients characterizing the temperature dependence of the moisture removal rate from the wood in the drying process are determined to have inversely proportional value to the relaxation time. Relaxation parameters of the moisture removal from the wood process have been determined using empirical kinetic dependencies of convection drying, which allowed calculating the thermodynamic coefficient K 1 characterizing the process of moisture removal from the wood. There has been calculated the activation energy of the bound moisture removal from the wood process using the Arrhenius’s method of the relaxation time τ 1 graphical and logarithmic dependencies on temperature. The calculations have showed that the moisture removal from all studied wood spices is characterized by the same energy, its value is Eα´= 4,806x10 -20 J = 0,30 eV. The damping capacity temperature dependence of the “conventional” moisture source has been determined in the result of experimental studies of the convection drying kinetics in an industrial environment. This allowed us to detect the presence of the activa tion mechanism in its life cycle at the stage of the material initial heating in the chamber. The activation energy of the “conventional” moisture source has been determined from the relaxation time logarithmic dependence on the reciprocal temperature. The obtained results allowed us to determine the thermodynamic coefficient K 2 characterizing the kinetics of “conventional” moisture source in the equation of the sawn timber current moisture content.
