| 330 | 0- | $a This article analyses the Russian translations of Ján Zambor’s poems, published in the poetry collection Чем я к вам приближусь (“How I Approach You”), translated by Natália Švedova, along with the bilingual, Slovak-Belarusian poetry book Obnova/ Аднаўленне (“Regeneration”), translated into Belarusian by Viktória Liashuk. From the Russian collection, the article analyses the title poem written in the form of an apostrophe, where the author tries to understand people, meet them halfway and enter their world. The Russian translation manages to aptly transpose the lyrical subject’s desire to find the right words to be able to approach any human being. The Belarusian translation is guided by a different principle, which is most noticeable in the title poem Obnova. While in Slovak this word evokes religious associations, in Belarusian it does not. The article then analyses Zambor’s methodical approach towards literary translation, applying his concept to East Slavic languages and observing their adaptation in the Belarusian translation of his poems |
