AnnotationThe study deals with main features of postmodern culture that should be taken into account in educational policy. The article provides analyses of two social phenomenons - disintegration of universalism and growing relativism. The author sees both phenomena such as the danger to multicultural society. Significant part of contribution is devoted to arguments that result in challenges for education. In particular, author highlights the risk of denial of human rights project, policy of particular interests and dangerous relativization of universal human values. She considers human rights as basic values and even the only possible modern ideology in contemporary Europe, which is multiethnic and multireligious. She formulates concerns that if we are unable to clearly define human rights; we may find ourselves in a state of ethical anarchy. In conclusion the author offers the key to how the school can capitalize on this social cognition.
