AnnotationGlobalization, new technologies, economic and human potential. These are the factors that currently, at the beginning of the 21st century, play an important role when determining statuses of international political players. New processes, which are developing among all levels of the global society, are gradually transforming characters as well as the possibilities of individual states. Great power, mostly determined through their historical dominancy, thus have to face new challenges and threats embodied in new or changed political players. People´s Republic of China represents one of the most visible examples on changes in status and potential of the state. Therefore, our contribution is focused on this spacious state, its attributes and defining its current position within the political map of the world
