AnnotationThe goal of the article is to explore and review the theoretical background as well as practical possibilities of university courses applying Service Learning educational strategy in developing intercultural and global competencies of university students. As the analysis of the theoretical and research studies shows, it is evident that Service Learning and Global Education overlap in their learning outcomes and they both possess potential to contribute to the university internationalisation. The question is what the aims of internationalisation are in Slovak context (at the micro university level) and if they include greater understanding of a local context and diversity, as the courses are predominantly offered in English and via other foreign languages (depending on the current human resources situation) at the University.
