Descr. príspevky v zborníku - proceedings papers Language Slovak Country Czech Republic Annotation This paper is focused on the issue of the translation of medical and pharmaceutical texts, specifically analysing the situation on the Slovak translation market. At the same time, it points out the difficulty and complexity of texts in the fields of medicine and pharmacy from the point of view of a translator. Due to factors such as the saturation and difficulty of terminology, the strong influence of Greek and Latin, and the abbreviations typical of these fields, such texts demand rigorous training and specialization from the translator, which should be an integral part of the university training of translation and interpreting students, i.e. future professional translators. Based on the results of a mostly quantitative study conducted by means of a questionnaire, this paper provides a brief description of the demand for the translation of medical/pharmaceutical texts on the Slovak translation market and determines the professional profile of the translator of such texts.
