AnnotationSlovak membership in the European Union has been devel oping for 15 years. Accession to the European Union has therefore brought socio-economic changes in society. The aim of the paper is to evaluate the perception of these changes in Slovak society from an in dividual, local, and national perspective. For evaluation, we use the method of a questionnaire survey conducted on 100 respondents. The results point to several socio-economic paradoxes. We search for what Slovak society perceives as an advantage at the individual level, and on the contrary, what appears to be the greatest threat from a national per spective. The findings presented in the paper will be in future part of an international comparison.
