AnnotationThe study aim was to verify empirically the relation between two new intelligence constructs of social-personal approach, i.e. moral intelligence (MI) conceptualized by Lennick and Kiel and their Moral Competence Inventory (MCI, [7]) and trait emotional intelligence (EI) by Petrides and his Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form (TEIQue-SF, [13]) on gender perspective. There were no significant inter-gender differences by U-test analysis (no to little effect size difference, Ŋ2≤.02) in global level of MI and trait EI and their factors. Spearman correlation analysis proves highly significant positive moderate relation (Ʒ=.36***) between global MI and EI level. This relation was determined by personal moral competences being in relation to all four factors and global EI level (.21**≤Ʒ≤.36***). The social moral competences were only in relation to emotionality factor from trait EI (Ʒ=.34***). The study confirms construct validity of trait EI, for EI and MI are partially complementary. Though EI is values free while MI is not, and should not be. As one of the first studies verifying this relation and differences creates a baseline for following researches
