    AnnotationThe standards of geography should respect a basic idea of the Slovak Educational System Reform – learning for life. It means to work out the content of geography in order to use it in practice. The standards would establish a wide range of topics which would be processed into target requirements. In modern geographical education a regional principle is preferred that is on two levels : - the level of local geographical comprehension where, pupils acquire knowledge about the placement of the particular components of local landscape, the causes of this emplacement, eventually correctness or incorrectness of the localization of the human sphere components in a local dimension . - the level of international geographical comprehension where, pupils acquire knowledge about conditions of the other countries, the relationships among them, compare their similarities and their differences, and express own opinions on the given areas
