AnnotationThe paper presents results of orientation diagnostics of interests by means of the RIASEC questionnaire - monitoring of interests in the population of 2nd year students (N=82) in the grammar school in Lučenec, the identification of dominant interest areas and the comparison of results in terms of classes and gender. The aim of the monitor is to enable learners to get to know their potential and suggest ways of further development. It can be considered a possible way how to motivate them to become knowledgeable leaders of the future. The analysis of the monitoring results showed that the social interests (n=26), enterprising interests (n=18) and investigative interests (n=17) are the greatest career interests of pupils. However, in terms of average RIASEC interest rates, investigative interests dominate the most (AM=23.10). No statistically significant differences were found by comparing the individual classes from the point of view of the average scores of the interest areas but the gender comparison showed significant differences in practical interests (at p <.000), artistic interests (at p <.000) and social interests (at p < .05). The paper further presents the possibilities of using projective techniques in career counselling, educational practice and in the performance of professional activities of a school psychologist. It points out the importance and significance of interdisciplinary relations of school subjects in terms of the selection of students' future studies and occupations. The study is the outcome the research project APVV-17-0557- Psychological approach to formation, implementation and evaluation of the competence model of educational leaders.
