Muránska planina Language Slovak Country Slovak Republic systematics 59 Annotation Main aim of this paper is to assess the current state of Tetrao urogallus in selected locations in a Special Protection Area Muránska Planina – Stolica (section Stolica). The aim is also to assess the most serious threats to local populations. Research had been carried out in the pre-planned field visits in the selected areas since October 2011 to April 2015. After monitoring of local population a slight increase in its quantity was recognised. Partial change of ecological conditions caused by the disaster in May 2014 is not recognized as negative factor and Tetrao urogallus still occurs and occupies these areas.
