Neological Covid lexis from the viewpoint of word-formative process in English

  1. Jesenská, Petra, 1975- Neological Covid lexis from the viewpoint of word-formative process in English / Petra Jesenská. -- Neological Covid Lexis from the Viewpoint of Word-formative Process in English investigates new denotates coined during Covid-19 pandemic due to the naming needs of language users. The productivity of particular word-formative processes has been examined to find out how the new covid and corona motivated words have been coined. The assumption was that compounding and blending would be the most productive word-formation processes (WFPs). Our research confirmed this assumption and added derivation as the third most productive process for the formation of neologisms through WFPs. The study was supported by VEGA 1/0748/21 project titled Lexicogenetic potential of media political discourse on the crisis.
