    AnnotationModern IT companies turn their attention toward business oriented management of IT services. Achieving this task is strengthen by the existence of IT service management frameworks such as ITIL or ISO/IEC 20000. However, to adopt this approach the strategic management of IT services is to be deployed. Strategic management of IT service is important especially to small and medium sized enterprises, that are seeking for the competitive advantage. This article presents the results of primary research on 174 small and medium sized enterprises in Poland, aimed on assessment of attitudes toward ITIL Service Strategy adoption.

    AnnotationNowadays, the combination of product and IT service becomes popular. This phenomena forces enterprises, especially small and medium-sized, to undertake actions aimed at security of provision of IT service level, that has been negotiated with the client. The realization of that aim is not an easy task, and demand adoption of IT service management strategies by the enterprises. ITSM approach is based on satisfying client’s business needs by the IT service provider. The management of IT services in small and medium sized enterprises should begin from development and deployment of service catalog. This article describes the service catalog adoption as well as chosen processes of IT service management, on the basis of primary research. The research was conducted on 174 small and medium size computer programming enterprises in Poland.
