AnnotationIn this paper, we try to link between geopolitics and ordinary people. We start from assumption that geopolitical imaginations, orientations and visions of ordinary people are important part of geopolitics. We focus on how the „public“ geopolitcal visions („low geopolitics“) interact with the geopolitical visions of social, political, economical and intellectual elites („hight geopolitics“), which dispose of power to realise their visions in practice. Significant socio-demographic, socio-economic and cocio-cultural differences appear in distinct geopolitical orientations. The public opinion surveys and voter preferences are important tools for understanding this interaction. We present a theoretical model of critical geopolitics to explain this links. We use an instance of contemporary Russian society to apply this model.
