AnnotationHigh-quality sensory perception and body scheme (somatognosis) are important aspects for sport performance. This study compares stereognosis, body scheme, and kinesthesia in a group of 36 competitive karate athletes against a control group of 32 general population participants. The stereognosis Petrie test, two body scheme tests, and three kinesthesia tests served as outcome measurement tools. No significant difference was found in the stereognosis Petrie test, for the dominant (p = .389) or the nondominant (p = .791) hand, nor in the kinesthesia test (dominant, p = .661 and nondominant, p = .051). Karate athletes performed significantly better in the body scheme tests, that is, fist width estimation (p = .024) and shoulder width estimation (p = .019), as well as in karate-specific kinesthesia tests, that is, single punch (p = .010) and triple punch (p = .001). This study confirms competitive karate athletes have significantly better somatognosis, and better accuracy when performing quick dynamic movements compared with the general population.

AnnotationIntroduction: Gnostic functions are an important factor in the perception of the athlete`s body in space. When boxing, the boxer is exposed to frequent hit to the head. A hit to the head can lead to a reduction in the quality of gnostic and stereognostic abilities. Aim: The main aim of our study was to determine whether fatigue and boxing hit after completing the training unit will affect the quality of gnostic and stereognostic functions in boxers. The sample: The our sample consisted of 20 boxers from two amateur clubs. Method: Probands were tested by 4 tests. Somatognosis tests - body assessment tests 1, 2 and modified kinesthesia tests, which we adapted to the boxing position. We tested the probands before and after the training. Results: In the body assessment test, the probands achieved better values after training. In body assessment test 2 probands were able to get better results after training. In both modified kinesthesia tests probands improved after training. Conclusion: Boxing training did not lead to worse of gnostic functions. However, the long-term risk is questionable. In some tests, probands achieved improvement.

AnnotationFinding talent for sports is hard. Testing for the selection of a talented child in football is very common today. In our study we compared gnostic function, test individual football gaming activities and evaluate their performance in matches. The sample consists of 23 football players in U12 and U13 category who participated in testing of individual gaming activities and gnostic abilities. Testing was performed during 4 weeks beginning with participants who have completed their game activities of individuals on artificial grass. Identity testing from 4 tests – control ball, slalom with ball, accuracy passing, accuracy shooting. After completing this examination, we tested the gnostic and stereognostic functions, which we then compared to abovementioned tests. Gnostic functions were tested by 3 standardized tests - kinesthesis test, body image (foot), Petrie test. And another 3 non-standardized (modified/invented by us) – step test, tread test a step calculation test. Finally, we collected data about other beneficiaries during the 2019/2020 first part of season. Only moderate to weak correlation between slalom with ball and step test (dominant DK) was found r = - 0.39 and correlation between slalom with ball and body image test (foot) r = 0,4. There was also found a significant correlation between the Preferred Test and the Stage Test (non-dominant DK) r = 0.33; Examination of other tests correlated between kinetics tests, for the dominant HK do r = 0.37. In our study, we have not shown significant correlations between individual tests and neither between both tests and performance during the match. We may recommend obtaining additional data that could bring valuable information to the next study.

Annotation© 2020, Liečreh s.r.o. All rights reserved. Background: With the frequency of using certain motion patterns, the quality of their execution also increases. The abilities involved in the quality of the intended movement are gnostic functions. Gnostic functions are important in sport rehabilitation. Aims: The aim of our study is to determine the quality of gnostic functions in top racewalker compared to the general population. Ninety two respondents aged 15 through 40 were tested in two groups. The first group consisted of 8 active and 4 former top race walkers from the Military Sports Center Dukla Banska Bystrica aged 15 to 40 (age average 25.92 ± 9.11). The second group consisted of 80 respondents from the general population aged 15 to 40 (age average 22.18 ± 7.67). Both groups underwent testing of gnostic functions. Testing consisted of two step assessments, one somatognosia test, kinesthesia test, and stereognosis test. Result: The results of our testing showed that race walkers achieved on average better results in tests for gnostic functions of the lower limbs. In assessment focused on multisensory top halfbody integration, group results were very similar. A statistically significant difference occurred only in the step 2 test, 10 repeats, the dominant leg (p = 0.05). Other test results were statistically insignificant. The increase in correlation between values within the first group showed that the respondents’ worsening of the results in the Petrie test was associated with more frequent injuries. Conclusion: The average results of our testing suggest that the quality of gnostic functions, along with the accumulation of race walking training load in top race walkers, is higher compared to general population and its training can play an important role in the prevention and treatment of locomotor system.
