AnnotationSince the original attempt on the paleoserological identification of the Thurzo’s family was based on the personal skeletal identification realized by Ullrich in 1971, new historic-anthropological, paleopathological and statistical analyses have suggested changed identity of some of their skeletal remains. In comparison with the previous study, the new standpoints (using the original numbering of the skeletons), of the identity of palatine and his three closest relatives are as follows: George Thurzo – skull No. 1a attributed to the postcranial skeleton No. 3e, Alžbeta Czobor (his wife) – skeleton No. 4, Imrich Thurzo (his son) – skeleton No. 2, Anna Szunyog (his daughter) – skeleton No. 5. The blood-group typing was realized by applying hemaglutination-inhibition (HI) and absorption-elution (AE) methods to bone remains. The new results suggest that neither of the parents of both Imrich Thurzo (blood group AB (B) and Anna Szunyog (blood group B) could have had the blood group 0. The revised estimation of blood groups do not exclude that the parents of Imrich and Anna were the persons identified as George Thurzo (blood group AB or B) and Alžbeta Czobor (blood group B or AB)

AnnotationA paleoserological study of human remains from the cemeteries at Devín-castle, Pobedim, Báhoň-Kaplná, Lupka-Nitra, Šebastovce, Tvrdošovce and from Bratislava (Michalská street7) was realised by applying absorbtion-elution bone method. 36 skeletons were buried in double graves and one in triple grave. A blood typing of these skeletons revealed some relationships among buried individuals and enabled the evaluation of results repeatability and reliability of the final peloserological diagnoses.

AnnotationPalatine Juraj Thurzo was one of the most important personalities of Hungarian Kingdom. Though the serotypes obtained by this study do not dispute the relationships among the members of this family(especially in the case of palatine´s wife and her three descendants), as they have been suggest by morphometrics and morphoscopy, the results do not provide unequivocal proof. The nonspecific ABH reactions in the case of Palatine Juraj Thurzo resulted probably from contamination by microorganisms (genus Saccharomyces)that were detected in the three long bones. Relatively equivocal results revealed the analysis of the Alžbeta Czoborová (J.Thurzo wife) skeleton suggesting the group B. In the case of remaining skeletons studied, the obtained results could be considered as more or less probable: Imrich Thurzo (son of J.T. and A.C.) - blood group AB, Anna Szunyogová (daughter of J.T and A.C.)- blood group B, Štefan Thokoly (grandson of J.T an A.C.) - blood group AB. The blood group typings also suggest that the very similar crania of Alžbety Czoborová and Anna Szunyogová might have been unintentionally interchanged during the recomposition of individual skeletons
