At present, countries reduce the beds’ numbers and decrease an average length of stay in the hospital. Day surgery development is connected with a process of beds’ reduction and increase of hospitalized healthcare efficiency. Slovak day surgery is supported by MOH SR government programme within a system of hospital bed reduction. It is declared as a highly-effective treatment that emphasizes patient’s painless and easy treatment in a short time, while highlighting quality and the lowest costs. However, its rate within the total amount of surgical procedures is very low and there is no evident positive progress. The reasons are systemic, while related to a policy of procedures’ financing and health insurance companies’ strategies. The paper focuses on solving the partial issues of Slova day surgery development. It also deals with analysing the rate of pediatric and adult patients’ hospitalization regarding specific field, region and analysed years. The analysis results provide a valuable platform for the authors of a strategic health system framework, or other actors of health and social policy. The paper reflects on the above-mentioned aspects and its primary aim is to evaluate the day surgery efficiency during 2009 – 2013 by applying Malmquist indices. So the object of our case study is group of day surgery facilities in Slovak regions. The subject is dynamic data envelopment analysis on basis of Malmquist indices. In 2014, Banska Bystrica region was efficient from the viewpoint of CCR model of paediatric patients. According to the BCC model, there were four efficient cases: Trnava-in 2009, Banska Bystrica-in 2014 and Presov-two years running (2013 and 2014). In the case of CCR model regarding adult patients, Zilina region was efficient in 2009. On the basis of the BCC DEA model, six efficient cases have been determined: Trnava and Zilina regions-in 2009, Zilina region-in 2010, Banska Bystrica-in 2012 and Bratislava region-in 2012 and 2014. The results of the analysis present a valuable platform for the creators of health and social policies as well as for other stakeholders of health system in Slovakia that will transform into correct stabilization and regulatory mechanisms of health and social policies. The objective of this study is to compare the impact of early and late reconstruction of complete unilateral cleft lip and palate on the growth and development of the front of the dentoalveolar arch. Methods. This study was carried out in the years 2012–2015 at the Clinic of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in Banska Bystrica. Infants with unilateral complete cleft lip and palate were divided into 2 groups according to the timing of lip reconstruction. Group A consisted of infants with early lip reconstruction–realised in the first 14 days of life. Group B consisted of infants with later lip reconstruction–realised in the third month of age. Maxillary dental casts were obtained for each child in four periods–in the first 14 days of life, in the third month, in the sixth month and in the age of one year. These were followed by the identification, measurement and evaluation of anthropometric parameters. Results. Significant differences were occurred after the reconstruction of the lips in linear and angle measurements between infants in the A and B groups. Conclusion. The early surgical reconstruction of the lips in the first 14 days of life has a positive effect on the growth and development of the anterior segment of the dentoalveolar arch. Early lip reconstruction forms a continuous pressure on the frontal segment, resulting in the earlier remedy of anatomical properties and creates appropriate conditions for the best development of this area Public work category ADM No. of Archival Copy 35839 Catal.org.
