Descr. články - journal articles Language English Country Poland Annotation Long-term operation of pulse-jet filters for wood dust. The study specifies the value of flow resistance and separation efficiency of filter material during long-term use in pulse-jet filters for wood dust. The experiments were carried out for one type of material working in two different filtration installations in one furniture factory. The bags were obtained from the installations after working for 67, 133 and 272 days, respectively. All tests were performed on the pilot-scale test stand under identical filtration conditions. Studies have shown that long-term filter material use increases airflow resistance and improves filtration efficiency. The range of these changes depends on the operating conditions of the pulse-jet filters. The obtained results made it possible to determine the properties of the long-term use of filter materials in various filtration conditions. Descr. články - journal articles Language English Country Slovak Republic Annotation The aim of this paper is to point out the importance of sustainability also in production processes. For the process of longitudinal sawing of beech, beech with a healthy false heart and spruce, we characterized the most important inputs and outputs of the given process based on the scheme from the viewpoint of sustainability. The aim of our investigation was the use of 2 different saw blades SB1 and SB2 and their effect on the granularity of sawdust from the viewpoint of dust particles ≤ 100 μm, which are dangerous for the operating personnel, because dust from hardwoods in particular is included among carcinogens. The proportion of individual sawdust fractions was obtained by sieve analysis. When sawing with the SB2 disc, 56.76 % ÷ 76.0 9% of dust particles ≤ 100 μm are produced compared to SB1 within the selected variants. When comparing woods, the proportion of dust particles ≤ 100 μm for spruce for all variants ranged from 7.95 ÷ 15.09 %, for beech from 10.52 ÷ 24.03 %, which is quite a high percentage, since it is a carcinogen. By choosing the right tool, we can reduce the share of the dust particles ≤ 100 μm, which is dangerous for the working environment. Descr. články - journal articles Language English Country Switzerland Annotation The aim of this paper is the issue of a sustainable manufacturing process in the context of woodworking by sanding, as one of the most important technological operations before its final treatment, focusing on a selected pillar of sustainable manufacturing process, waste management. The first step of the experiment was to optimize the pressures of the sanding means on the surface. The optimal pressure of 1.04 N cm2 was chosen. The second level was to obtain the wear curves of the abrasive means with grain size 80 (evaluated by wood removal) and the optimal pressure in dependence on the sanding direction (along and perpendicular to the wood fibres and in the direction of 60 to the wood fibres) and different types of woods (beech, oak, alder, pine). The set parameters were suitable for beech and were not suitable for alder and pine. By extending the operating life of the sanding belts via appropriate choice of input factor settings it can be influenced metrics of pillar waste management-savings of material and waste minimization. The proportion of dust fractions with a particle size ≤ 0.08 mm was determined by sieving. The percentage shares of these fractions are similar for natural wood 84.17 % and temperature of treatment at 160 °C (87.18 %), 180 °C (86.23 %) and 200 °C (80.79 %). A significantly lower proportion of dust fractions with a particle size ≤ 0.08 mm occurred at a temperature of 220 °C, only 74.48 %.
