The, so called, “Ukraine crisis” turned due to the projection of Russia´s military force in Crimea and the East of the country from an internal political conflict into a multiple level global crisis with significant consequences for Europe. The combination of domestic political challenges, severe deterioration of Ukraine`s oligarchic type of economy, war in the East of the country as well as need for securing international financing and diplomatic community, put Ukraine in extremely difficult position and on the top of the global political agenda. The authors also analyse Russia`s hybrid warfare showing existing leverages for justifying its actions and striking distinction between reality on the ground and official Russian statements. In order to secure its national interests, Russia violated international law, broke its multilateral and bilateral commitments to Ukraine and took adversary stance towards the West blaming it to be responsible for the eruption of the crisis. This newly emerged situation in the Eastern Europe significantly increases insecurity of the former post-soviet republic`s as well as the possibility of a larger military collision. The paper also aims to provide brief overview of EU policies predeceasing the Ukrainian crisis, analysis of responses of key actors (including Germany) involved in the Ukrainian crisis. Stredoafrická republika Language English Country Slovak Republic systematics 323 Annotation The paper analyses contemporary armed intrastate conflict in Central African Republic. Presented case study comprehends the dovelopment and dynamics of conflict or identification of main but also secondary parties of conflict. As focal conflict parties we consider armed groups such as Seleka or anti-Balaka. Further the paper deals with integral sources of conflict that caused the escalation of armed violence in terms of Galtung’s structural and cultural violence. Among major causes of CAR’s conflict we see especially weak and failing statehood that is unable to adequately react to emerging security situation with high conflict potential or distribution of state power whitout respect towards the confessional or ethnical structure of CAR’s population. Moreover, case study analyses regional context in form of transborder support of armed rebel groups, dominance of non-state actors in corresponding security environment or various efforts intending to the conflict resolution under the heading of concerned international organisations or states. As the most significant implications of present conflict in CAR on local and regional lever are considered thousands of deaths, internaly displaced persons or refugees, destabilisation of political and security situation with potential threat of spillover efect into neighboring states.
