Ice hockey is one of the most popular sports that constitutes a physically demanding intermittent type of physical activity. It also requires an enormous amount of energy expended by the musculoskeletal system. The main objective of the study was to determine the dynamic stability of the lower limb in professional hockey players. Methods. The Y-balance test was chosen to measure the dynamic stability of lower limb. In addition, an electronic questionnaire was applied to obtain data associated with the knee joint injuries. Results. The mean value of the composite score for the right lower limb was 1.07 (± 0.10). The minimum value of the composite score for the right lower limb was 0.88, and the maximum value equalled 1.25. The mean value of the composite score for the left lower limb was 1.08 (± 0.11). The minimum value for the left lower limb was 0.90, and the maximum equalled 1.27. Conclusions. Dynamic stability in the tested group of professional hockey players was shown to be adequate; however, further studies will be needed to determine the optimal values of the Y-balance test in the prevention of injuries in hockey players. Descr. články - journal articles Language Slovak Country Czech Republic Annotation Summary: Medial tibial stress syndrome is a common problem of the lower limbs, especially in athletes but it is also common in soldiers. Various pathophysiological mechanisms are involved in the development of medial tibial stress syndrome. A higher incidence of medial tibial stress syndrome is associated with foot hyperpronation and higher body mass index. The patient’s clinical examination plays an important role in diagnosis. The main symptom is pain in the posteromedial part of the shin and palpable. Another important diagnostic sign is pain exacerbated by exercise. Several biomechanical factors are involved in the development of medial tibial stress syndrome. Conservative treatment is most common in the treatment of medial tibial stress syndrome. Rehabilitation therapies are a significant part of the treatment with good outcomes. URL Link na zdrojový dokument Link na plný text Public work category ADM No. of Archival Copy 50175 Catal.org. Descr. články - journal articles Language English Country Slovak Republic Annotation Abstract View references (37) The first cases of COVID-19 were initially recorded in December 2019 in Wuhan, the capital of China’s Hubei Province. The situation quickly escalated and turned into a global pandemic. COVID-19 is a highly infectious respiratory disease that leads to decreased respiratory, physical, and psychological function of affected patients (2). Patients’ symptoms widely vary; from asymptomatic course to severe symptoms. Decrease in physical function, and, in some cases, a persistence of symptoms may be observed in patients, who overcame the infection period. Rehabilitation represents a potential treatment option for COVID-19 patients in post-infection period. Rehabilitation therapies may help to restore physical function in patients and to reduce the long-term effects of COVID19 infection URL Link na zdrojový dokument Public work category ADN No. of Archival Copy 49927 Repercussion category KISS, L. Descr.
