Slovensko Language English Country Slovak Republic systematics 58 Annotation The paper provides information on the current occurrence of association Hordeetum hystricis Wendelbg. 1943 in Slovakia, where the community occurs at the northern border of its distribution range. The changes and vegetation state in the past and today are compared and discussed. The association is characterized by high cover of Hordeum geniculatum and is regarded as secondary community of relatively poorly salt-affected and nutrient rich solonetz soils. The occurrence of Hordeetum hystricis is related to intensively overgrazed sites in saline pastures. In Slovakia, the community was currently found near extinction and single locality was confirmed (Močenok, Siky farmstead). Due to the development trend and high dependence on sheep grazing the association is considered as critically endangered in Slovakia Public work category ADF No. of Archival Copy 20408 Catal.org. Slovensko Language English Country Slovak Republic systematics 57 Annotation Association Artemisio santonici-Festucetum pseudovinae SOÓ in MÁTHÉ 1933 corr. BORHIDI 1996 is considered as one of the most abundant plant communities of saline habitats in the Pannonian Plain. The paper presents information about its current distribution in Slovakia. The obtained results were compared with historical data. Vegetation changes and the overall state of association in the past and today are commented. Although the association is considered to be primarily community of salt soils, the vegetation is able to create also on the largely disturbed places. Primary and secondary vegetation are comparable. Both were characterized by dominance of the two taxa: Artemisia santonicum subsp. patens and Festuca pseudovina. Secondary vegetation currently prevails in Slovakia. The natural communities we have sampled only on a few places (the Mostové Nature Reserve, Jatov, Kamenín, Kamenný Most). Due to the current state of saline habitats and absence of conservation management, we consider the association as critically endangered in Slovakia Public work category ADF No. of Archival Copy 17366 Catal.org.
