Descr. články - journal articles Language Slovak Country Slovak Republic Annotation The study focuses on epistemological, theoretical-methodological, and ethical questions that touched on individual phases of the implementation of oral history, or biographical research, focused on the life histories of people who lived their adult life in the former Czechoslovakia. It pay attention to the specifics of the ethnological approach to the research of everyday life, the connection between the representation of the past in its current interpretations, and describes the possibilities and limits of the ethnological research of the past in the present. An essential factor in the interpretation and analysis of research data is the local context and the connection with a small industrial town that developed during the socialist era. The theoretical starting point of the research is the concept of memory, which is thematized from several points of view, while the moment of asymmetry between collective and individual memory is at the center of analytical interest. The subject of the analysis are the so-called micro-stories that communicate the current view of an ordinary person on their daily life in the past, i.e. in socialism, which is viewed not only as a specific historical epoch, but also as a special type of culture. The chosen perspective is based on the thesis that the perception and experience of lived socialism at the local level can differ significantly from the official interpretation of historical events, while this narrative is recognized as dominant. The chosen ethnological perspective does not seek to reconstruct history; it also notes the role of emotions in the research process and opens up the possibilities of the social significance of biographical research in the present. I could say that it’s even impossible, or in fact, even unnecessary. Not because it is not attractive enough, professional enough or empirically supported enough, because it does fulfill all these attributes. But because any further verbal expression will only be another weakened experience and more watered down information. Any evaluation would serve as an act of power. I also don’t want any reader to lose the opportunity to experience – understand and feel – this book in their own way. I will therefore try to find a balance between sufficient presentation of content and approaches, while maintaining secrecy and not “revealing” more than necessary. Descr. články - journal articles Language Slovak Country Slovak Republic Annotation The study shows how the body was conceptualized from a theoretical point of view, how it was classified, normalized, disciplined and how the struggles for its liberation took place, argues why it is (not) necessary to talk about the female body, points to certain intersections between anthropology and feminist theory. The main purpose of the text is to capture how the feminist understanding of the female body and corporeality developed, to point out the main points of the "reversal" that fundamentally influenced feminist thinking and at the same time to give space to less visible feminist discourse – all with an emphasis on the Slovak home environment. It also points out that the thinking about the body and the corporeality is firmly linked to the idea of gender as the central theoretical concept of feminism, on the one hand and the "woman" on the other, as a subject of feminist politics. It is the female body and corporeality that largely reflects the gap between feminist theory (thinking) and practice (politics). The study in the first part of the thesis will provide a theoretical insight into the research of the (female) body and corporeality from a feminist perspective. The themes/subjects/motifs of body and corporeality have been at the centre of feminist debates since the beginning, from Simone de Beauvoir's philosophical considerations to Judith Butler. They also play an integral part of past and present ethnological and anthropological research, which has reflected the diverse socio-cultural meanings of the body, often in the context of gender and sexuality. The development of anthropological thinking has largely shaped the conflict between social and biological determinism. In contrast to the dominant poststructuralist discourse in academic feminism, the study in the next chapters of the thesis from an ethnological perspective will focus on various forms of the struggle of the current feminist movement for female bodies, focusing on the Slovak context, under the slogan "my body, my choice".
