Descr. články - journal articles Language English Country Italy systematics 502.2 Annotation From 2015 onwards, the parameters of the end-of-waste status for refuse-derived fuels have been defined in Slovak legislation. These parameters were adopted in view of the increasing number of pyrolysis and gasification technologies producing liquid and gaseous energy carriers from different types of waste. The present paper addresses the appropriateness and adequacy of the exiting quality standards for the production and use of alternative secondary fuel, in the form in which they are currently in effect in Slovak environmental legislation, as well as the ability of the existing pyrolysis process to comply with those standards. With respect to the issue of the appropriateness and adequacy of the exiting quality standards, we propose new threshold values for parameters that have been proposed inappropriately as well as for undefined parameters. Regarding the ability of the existing pyrolysis process to comply with effective quality standards for alternative secondary fuel from waste, we present a comparison of the values of parameters available from the existing and upcoming pyrolysis-type facilities with the threshold values defined in the first part of the paper and identification of the most problematic parameters (those where the actual values most often exceed the threshold values defined in the first part of the paper). The aim of this article is to provide an overview of the extent of these end-ofwaste parameters for gaseous and liquid fuels produced from waste as well as the levels of threshold values defined for each of these parameters. The review also includes the identification of parameters which do not have threshold values established. The main part of the article is focused on the comparison of the values of these parameters available from the existing different pyrolysis facilities (only for liquid secondary fuels) as well as values of these parameters for both – liquid and gaseous fuels from upcoming pyrolysis facilities, (currently under development), with the threshold values established in the first part of the article. In the final section, problem parameters are identified (those, whose actual values most often exceed the threshold values defined in the first part of the article). Descr. články - journal articles Language English Country Czech Republic systematics 502.2 Annotation Acid sludge is an industrial waste generated during petroleum oils refining with chemical agents, especially sulfuric acid. It is toxic, cancer-causing, teratogenic, mutagenic and it is classified as hazardous waste. 30 years ago acid sludge was placed in pre-explored pitches without any security measures against its penetration into the environment. It is urgent to eliminate this kind of waste with appropriate technology. Thermal desorption has been chosen as possible option of its processing, which uses oxygen-free heat treatment to reduce emissions to as low level as possible. Tests on the thermal desorption unit were performed to indicate the technology effectiveness during acid sludge processing and the change in weight of the before stabilized waste in relation to the desorbed matrix as residual material after the processing. Roč. 20, č. 1 (2018), s. 97-104. - Banská Bystrica : Univerzita Mateja Bela, Fakulta prírodných vied, 2018 Keywords znečisťujúce látky - pollutants emisie znečisťovanie ovzdušia piliny Language Slovak Country Slovak Republic Annotation tomto príspevku sa zameriavame na znečisťovanie pracovného ovzdušia a vonkajšieho ovzdušia ultrajemnými a respirabilnými časticami pri výrobe drevených peliet o maximálnej spotrebe pilín na výrobu peliet 18,5 ton/deň. Navrhnutým predbežným modelom hodnotíme ako fugitívne a bodové emisie PM10 (a PM2,5, alebo TSP) môžu ovplyvniť čistotu ovzdušia v blízko stojacej obytnej budove (do 50 m). Predbežným modelom bola zistená teoreticky najvyššia hodnota hmotnostnej koncentrácie 38,1 μg.m-3 respirabilnej frakcie na atike najbližšej obytnej budovy (vo vzdialenosti 42 m od zdroja), pričom najväčším príspevkom sa na tom podieľajú fugitívne emisie 37,6 μg.m-3. Tieto hodnoty by sa dosiahli pri rýchlosti vetra 4 m.s-1 vo výške 10 m, prúdiacom v smere od zdroja presne k sledovanej obytnej budove. Požiadavky kvality ovzdušia sú splnené, napriek tomu obyvatelia majú pocit silne znečisteného ovzdušia. An analysis of the energetic importance of the combustion of sewage sludge has already been carried out, but the effects of various treatments of the sludge are not always clear, e.g. composting and subsequent combustion to the air pollution. Investments in other thermal processes of energetic utilisation of sewage sludge and organic waste are not always successfully implemented. The objective of this paper is to point out some problematic cases for acceptance of thermal processes related to energetic use of waste in terms of the air protection. The other aim is to mention the experience with solutions of such issues in Slovakia. There are mentioned first results of the operational validation experiments during the energy generation in circulating fluidized bed boiler in peaking power plant (Power 110 MW) with the addition of the so-called alternative fuel based on wood and sewage sludge to the main fuel – black coal (anthracite). And there has already been achieved the highest share of 12.4% w. (dry matter) of sewage sludge in form of compost in blend with black coal, which is technologically viable.
