AnnotationThe economic crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic suggests that enterprises should manage their business in the wider system of public, social and environmental relations. Sustainable socially responsible business is becoming a lifeline for enterprises, they need to make the most effective decisions about the future direction. This can be achieved by interconnection of sustainable socially responsible business and controlling. Following the empirical survey research carried out using 151 Slovak enterprises the maturity of enterprises concerning the use of controlling and its financial, investment, cost, quality and personnel controlling subsystems was defined. Fisher’s f-test was used for Three-factor analysis of variance questions. The results achieved in the research showing significant differences between analyzed categories of enterprises in terms of size and their subject of business. Based on the analyses of the secondary sources and on results of the research, a framework c

AnnotationThe knowledge of the requirements and specifications of the current, as well as potential customers, is a necessary condition for the successful operation of enterprises in the market. The goal of this paper is to map and monitor the preference of Slovak customers for colour of wood products. The mapping of the interest in the wood colour among potential customers was carried out using the interrogating method in the form of a questionnaire. The research results were evaluated descriptively and graphically. Respondents stated that they were most affected by quality when buying wood products. Another result is that the respondents focus on domestic rather than tropical woody plants. Although tropical woods are becoming popular since they have a very attractive colour. Most respondents, specifically 80%, focus on the natural colour of wood. Respondents prefer mainly brown matt colours with a distinctive grain, followed by white and grey colours. A smaller number of respondents choose bla

AnnotationOver the last decade, the consumption of renewable energy within the EU increased by 66%, and corporations have recognized that heating with wood waste is a cost-effective response to fluctuating fuel prices and a means of avoiding waste disposal costs. The main objective of this paper was to determine whether the combustion of biomass compared with the use of fossil fuels as the primary heat source would increase the efficiency in Slovak heating companies. This research was evaluated via methods of synthesis, analyses, and financial analyses. The survey found that heating companies with combined productions had better economic results. Based on the peer group comparison, heating companies using renewable resources achieved remarkably higher performance indicators. Among renewable energy sources, total biomass plays an important role and accounted for just over two thirds (64%) of the gross inland energy consumption of renewables in the EU. Wood pellets and agglomerates are currently the most economical way of converting biomass into fuel and are a fast-growing source of energy in Europe. The economic efficiency and key performance indicators strongly depend on the input prices of the energy carriers. In the last decade, the cost of heat produced from natural gas amounted on average to two to three times the cost of deciduous wood. Biomass production can generate employment, and if intensive agriculture is replaced by less intensively managed energy crops, there are likely to be environmental benefits, such as reduced leaching of fertilizers and reduced use of pesticides.
