    AnnotationThis is a survey on chessboard representations of classes of graceful graphs. We introduced and studied the concept of chessboard representations of graceful graphs in our book Vertex labellings of simple graphs in 2015, however, the book and hence its concepts and methods are not widely accessible. Our survey from the book is complemented by new applications of chessboard representations to the classes of k-enriched fan graphs presented by the first author and Kurtulík in 2021. The aim of the chessboard representations of classes of graceful graphs has been to provide an important value of visualization. Firstly, it leads to seeing better the pattern of the graceful labellings in already known graceful representations of simple graphs. Secondly, it can lead to creating new classes of graceful graphs as is demonstrated on the very recent example of the classes of k-enriched fan graphs.

    AnnotationThe Graceful Tree Conjecture stated by Rosa in the mid 1960s says that every tree can be gracefully labelled. It is one of the best known open problems in Graph Theory. The conjecture has caused a great interest in the study of gracefulness of simple graphs and has led to many new contributions to the list of graceful graphs. However, it has to be acknowledged that not much is known about the structure of graceful graphs after 55 years. Our paper adds an infinite family of classes of graceful graphs to the list of known simple graceful graphs. We introduce classes of k-enriched fan graphs kF_n for all integers k, n ≥ 2 and we prove that these graphs are graceful. Moreover, we provide characterizations of the k-enriched fan graphs kF_n among all simple graphs via Sheppard's labelling sequences introduced in the 1970s, as well as via labelling relations and graph chessboards. These last approaches are new tools for the study of graceful graphs introduced by Haviar and Ivaška in 2015. The labelling relations are closely related to Sheppard's labelling sequences while the graph chessboards provide a nice visualization of graceful labellings. We close our paper with an open problem concerning another infinite family of extended fan graphs.

    AnnotationThe focus of the presented article is put on the analysis of edge coloring of selected sets of graphs we are specifically interested in edge 3-coloring of graphs called snarks. Previous research suggests, that while using a single coloring algorithm and using various initial graph coloring edges, coloring of such graph may take anywhere from time lower than one millisecond to the time ranging in hundreds of milliseconds. In our case, we use recursive backtracking coloring algorithm based on breadth-first search and implement the change of initial graph coloring edge via permutation of adjacency matrix of graph. In this article, we present a tool created for the needs of analysis of edge coloring of graphs which is based on visualization of edge coloring and we present several problematic subgraphs and patterns which increase the time of edge coloring of cubic graphs.

    AnnotationWe investigate a representation of the automorphism group of a connected graph X in the group of unimodular matrices U(β) of dimension β, where β is the Betti number of graph X. We classify the graphs for which the automorphism group does not embed into U(β). It follows that if X has no pendant vertices and X is not a simple cycle, then the representation is faithful and Aut X acts faithfully on H_1(X,Z). The latter statement can be viewed as a discrete analogue of a classical Hurwitz’s theorem on Riemann surfaces of genera greater than one.

    AnnotationGraphs are one of several abstract topics presented in teaching of computer science at university. Graphs are part of various subjects such as optimization, compilers, networks, etc. Main objective of this paper is to present online application aimed at graph visualization. Implemented tool can be also used as a translator between various formats of graph description- A djacency matrix, graph6 format and diagram of graph. The greatest emphasis was placed on functionalities which are lacking in other online tools for similar purposes-mainly method of graphical representation of graph, possibility of various forms of input for graphical representation and possibility of multiple graphs on the input for simultaneous visualization of set of graphs. Presented application is first part of Moodle course project which is focused on graphs and parallel computing.
