    AnnotationŠtúdium vzoriek z Ľubietovej odhalilo veľké rozdiely v obsahoch PTP a nepravidelnosti v ich distribúcii, kontrolovanú procesom zvetrávania PTP, ich migračnou schopnosťou, tvorbou sekundárnych minerálov a sorpčnou kapacitou niektorých minerálov. Haldový materiál vykazuje určitú samočistiacu schopnosť, veľká časť PTP je fixovaná v poréznom materiáli Mn- a Fe oxidov, v hydroxidoch Fe a v ílových mineráloch, ktoré stále vykazujú dôležitú voľnú sorpčnú kapacitu. Z tohto dôvodu nie je efektívne do telesa skládky zasahovať (Andráš et al., 2008; 2012; Nagyová et al., 2013). Hlavné environmentálne riziko v Ľubietovej predstavuje kontaminácia podzemných vôd PTP najmä veľmi toxickými formami As3+ a Sb3+ (Franková et al., 2012). Pre elimináciu tohto rizika bola v údolí pod haldovým poľom inštalovaná Fe0-bariéra (Kupka et al., 2015). Systém malých priehrad v koryte horského potoka, drenujúceho údolie pod haldou bol na zamedzenie erózie spôsobenej prudkými dažďami a nevhodnými technickými zásahmi inštalovaný začiatkom 90. rokov.

    AnnotationThe article is focused on the application of Energy dispersive micro X-ray fuorescence spectroscopy as a specifc method to determine the contents of potentially toxic elements and its spread in plant tissues. As a model species, Quercus spp. were selected. In order to compare the obtained results with previous research, four well-described abandoned Cu-deposits were selected for sampling: Ľubietová (Slovakia), Libiola and Caporciano (Italy), and São Domingos (Portugal). The results of micro X-ray fuorescence spectrometry confrm the irregular contamination of Quercus spp. by potentially toxic elements. The level of contamination is the highest predominantly in the root cortex, where is also the highest Ca contents (with exception of São Domingos). At Ľubietová and Caporciano, high Ni content was described in branches cortex, in branches mesoderm also Fe, Cu and Zn. At the same time, the inhibition infuence of Ca was also confrmed regarding the input of these elements into plants.

    AnnotationThis elaborate reports an environmental study concerning the abandoned Caporciano copper mine in Montecatini Val di Cecina. The environmental matrices (water, soil, dump sediments, plants) of the studied mining sites were investigated in order to evaluate its environmental status. The heavy metals mobilization can cause contamination of country components. Our attention was focused on heavy metal content in the studied environmental matrices. Concentration values which we found out by laboratory analyses were also compared with concentration limits provided by Italian law (L.D. 152/06) as far as soil and water are concerned. Acidification potential of dump sediments and soils from the dump was also studied. The acidification risk seems to be negligible. The bioconcentration factor (BIF) and translocation factor (TF) of the heavy metals in the studied plants (Pinus sp. and Quercus sp.) indicate that the plants are excluders. Also the enrichment factor (EF) is not very high

    AnnotationExploitation of ores has surely represented a risk for contamination of environmental matrices for a long time. This paper reports the results of a study concerning soil contamination by heavy metals at Libiola abandoned copper mine (Italy). This deposit has surely got special importance in Italy because of its historical, environmental and mining features. From a historical viewpoint, Libiola deposit was known since Copper Age, with maximum exploitation at the end of the 19th century. Our investigation plan was elaborated in order to characterize the environmental matrices there, and it provided for inspection of the zones (included in the valley of Gromolo stream) which, according to our preliminary studies and according to literature, could be most affected by past mining activity. Within our selected zones, some soils (even cultivated) were collected in order to check their contamination by heavy metals.     AnnotationThe results of the potentially toxic elements imput to the representatives of the genus Pinus spp. and Quercus spp. at four selected closed Cu-deposits: Lubietová (Slovakia), Libiola and Caporciano (Italy) and São Domingos (Portugal) are significantly complicated. The imput of the potentially toxic elements to the plants at mining areas in comparison with reference areas usually markedly differ. At the mining areas show the plants much more bioaccumulation of toxic elements into their organs. The bioavailability of individual toxic elements is mutable but in general relatively limited. Pinus spp. and Quercus spp. are for most elements excluders (bioconcentration factor BCF < 1). Only Ag show extraordinary ability to high degree of bioconcentration. Also bioconcentration factor values in Pinus sp. at Lubietová ore-field show high degree of Pb and Zn accumulation in studied plants. Zinc is in Pinus spp. and Quercus spp. accumulated in needles at all studied deposits. The translocation factor (TF) indicates that the other studied toxic elements are accumulated preferentially in roots. The studied plants are suitable only for phytostabilization of the potentially toxic elements.
