AnnotationThe paper compares the views of the primary school teachers (primary and lower secondary school level) on the quality of the current decentralized curriculum with the quality of the previous centralized model of curriculum that was applied before 1989 (the end of the communist regime). After that year, methods and forms of school work changed in some way, but aims and content remained unchanged. The school reform came in 2008 with the legal obligation to create school curriculum. The paper presents several results of a questionnaire research about the perception of the old and the new model of curriculum. The research was performed on a sample of nearly one thousand primary school teachers in Slovakia. The paper presents an interesting statistical analysis and visualization showing a number of critical views about the nature and development of the school curriculum. These views are compared from the perspective of a number of teacher population characteristics.

AnnotationIn the article we refer to teachers' autonomy as an important key factor for changes in education and as well we deem to a teacher as a creator of the class and the school curriculum. We deal with the current status of teachers' autonomy in the Slovak Republic and in some European countries. We clarify obtained information from the perspective of three concepts of professional autonomy of teachers created by Magnus Frostenson (2015) the professional autonomy on general, collegial and individual level. In relation to these concepts we are looking at autonomy of Slovak teachers specifically after impact of curricular reform in the Slovak Republic. The article presents partial research results about Slovak curriculum reform (2008) with an emphasis on teachers' self-perception.

AnnotationThe project deals with the issue of discipline management as one of the conditions necessary for a quality education in classroom at primary level. Disruptive behavior and lack of (self) discipline can cause significant time losses during lessons. It is a result of poor classroom management being the essential condition for a quality education. The objective of the project is, through research analysis of the current conditions of the issue in our country and abroad, to find and implement the optimum model of discipline management regarding classroom management, which would through the implementation of optimum preventive measures and leading to (self) discipline improve and increase the efficiency of education in classrooms at primary school. In the paper we present preliminary results and describe the most frequent inappropriate behavior in the primary Slovak and Dutch classroom.

AnnotationIn 2008 a curricular reform brought the model of dual-level curriculum to Slovak primary schools. The reform induced a situation in which primary schools had the mandatory objective to create their own school curriculum within several weeks. Teachers had to modify the composition of the teaching subjects to match specific features of the particular primary schools. This resulted into the research task: to describe how teachers see the need to create the school curriculum and to derive a model of an "ideal primary curriculum". The paper presents a description of findings acquired by qualitative semantic analysis of semistructured interviews with primary school teachers. The semantic codes and categories were processed using software Atlas.ti. The paper describes teachers' notions on themselves in the role of the "change bearers". We identified three perceived levels teacher as the creator of new relations, teacher as the advocate of new values, teacher as the innovator of the teaching.
