AnnotationGreenwashing is the practice of making false or misleading claims about the environmental benefits of a product or service. The purpose of this study is to examine consumers’ perceptions and experiences in relation to the greenwashing tactics used by Slovak businesses within the framework of environmental health policy. In the present study, we used data obtained through an inductive qualitative research design according to consolidated criteria. From 14 participants aged 20-45, using reflexive thematic analysis, we analysed three semi-structured focus group interviews. Four descriptive themes were created: (1) Individual and interpersonal determinants of consumers; (2) Marketing and organisational determinants of brands; (3)Public policy of the environment and health of the Slovak Republic; and (4) Environmental sustainability and ecological protection. The findings of our study confirmed that greenwashing often relies on buzzwords to reel in consumers, making them believe that the products they purchase are biodegradable or ethically sourced. The observed deterioration of consumer trust in product brands as a reaction to greenwashing threatens the potential of green marketing and contributes to damaging the reputation of the producers. One solution could be disseminating information on how customers can verify the authenticity of organic products through public and social media

AnnotationeGovernment brings administration closer to its citizens and entrepreneurs, speeding up, facilitating, and increasing the transparency of administrative actions, consequently saving time and money and increasing efficiency. The study aims to explore the digital divide and digital citizenship in eGovernment usage in Slovakia and Norway according to their national statistics. The study adopted quantitative secondary data from Eurostat’s individual-level database, originating from the questionnaire ‘Information and Communications Technology (ICT) use in households and by individuals’. The analysis was applied to Norwegian and Slovak data from 2021, and the research sample consists of 2145 observations from Norway and 3252 observations from Slovakia. The results show that being a beneficiary of eGovernment services aligns with sociodemographic variables to a lower extent in Norway than in Slovakia. In Slovakia, the usage of the services varies not only according to the education of the user but also according to income, even if an individual has access to the Internet and sufficient skills. Due to the high level of development, and especially the inclusive nature of eGovernment, the Norwegian approach with the implementation of electronic identification (eID), digital mailbox, contact information, Altinn, and public common registers could serve as a benchmark for the further development of public digital services—not only in Slovakia but also for other countries. The conclusion shows that there is less inequity in the possibility to use eGovernment within individual social groups in Norway than in Slovakia. Norway manifests and emplaces strategies to guarantee critical judgment, ensuring the use of digital tools with safety. Slovakia, with lower levels of digital service users, tends to experience higher levels of digital divide which make the situation with eGovernment penetration even more difficult.

AnnotationTechnophobia, technostress, computer or techno anxiety, along with cyberphobia, techno-pessimism and technology-induced stress have been the subject of research in the last few decades. Technophobia (a fear of modern technology) is the dominant factor explaining digital divides between groups in terms of ICT access, use and knowledge. Our research has found that technophobia and technostress is more common among older adults. This study is related to older adult employees and the challenge they present for the management of human resources and describes strategies to reduce technophobia and technostress. The objective of this paper is to explore and describe strategies to reduce technophobia and technostress in older adult employees and suggest possible interventions by human resources management. The results showed three themes: 1) Human capital development through job training and education, 2) Be active in supporting ageing employees to facilitate the prevention of ageism, and 3) Incorporating diversity as sustainability. These results suggest that technophobia and technostress are key factors in explaining digital divides among older adults, and thus ought to be considered a threat to well-being in older adulthood.

AnnotationThe role and responsibilities of next-of-kin carers are significant, filling several years of their lives and causing them to experience a burden of care. This study was conducted to investigate the burden of next-of-kin carers for dementia sufferers in Slovakia. Data were compiled via the Relatives’ Stress Scale (RSS) screening instrument through a survey of 112 primary next-of-kin carers and analysed using the statistical tests of descriptive statistics, means, scores and significance differences (Wilcoxon test). This is one of the few scales which provides: (a) specific measures of caregiver stress, and (b) is standardised for a population of informal carers in the home environment. The profiles of Slovak next-of-kin carers were identified with statistically significant characteristics (gender, age of carers). The study identified a high level of caregiving stress (82.15%), and selected factors were found to be significant in all burden dimensions: emotional stress (p = 0.001), social stress (p = 0.003), and negative feelings (p = 0.002). The results emphasise the need for coordination of healthcare and social services, possibly by expanding the network of social support groups, operating a counselling hotline/chat, and introducing national educational programmes for the next-of-kin carers of dementia sufferers. The results are also a source of reference for the umbrella organisation ‘the Slovak Alzheimer’s Society’ to access when implementing changes at a national level.

AnnotationThis report has been prepared by a Slovak-Norwegian team of university lecturers based on an online bilateral initiative entitled: ‘Exchange of Experiences Between University Lecturers from Norway and Slovakia During the COVID-19 Pandemic and the Impact on Their Well-Being’. Supported by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA and Norway Grants (www.eeagrants.sk www.norwaygrants. sk), the purpose of the initiative is to promote the development of closer co-operation between Slovakia and Norway. This kind of initiative is a very good way of exchanging experiences in the pedagogical and scientific areas, and additionally deepening co-operation in future common areas of interest. In the period of dynamic changes during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was necessary to react quickly to sustain competitiveness and to prepare students for the labour market. This initiative is aimed at raising concerns about the high workload of university lecturers during the COVID-19 pandemic, an important area of study since data on university lecturers and their workload is largely absent. The report starts by highlighting the immediate impact of the pandemic on the higher education sector, the specificities of post-secondary education in Slovakia and Norway, and some areas of impact that are not immediately visible but are very significant and will manifest themselves in the medium and long term.
