AnnotationThe aim of the contribution is to theoretically define the multidimensional nature of communicative language competence in the context of the labour market needs. Language economics contains the intersection among economic, language and political processes and their components. The subject of research is the language competence of young people in the countries of the European Union and Slovakia. The object of research is the international and domestic labour market. In the contribution, we use secondary data collected from international and domestic statistical portals. We find out that language asymmetry hinders economic flow and active knowledge of a foreign language has a direct impact on employability on the labour market. Therefore, we see the development of language competence as an investment that supports integration in the labour market. We find that among young Slovaks, language competence in English dominates, which copies the development in the countries of the European Union. In the last observed periods, language competence in the Russian language is also increasing in Slovakia. As part of the submitted contribution, we are implementing a pilot case study, the aim of which is to bring this topic to the Slovak professional public and to link economics and language through research.

AnnotationMigrations are part of human civilization development and are related to changing living conditions. The integration of migrants into society in a new country takes place at the socioeconomic, civic-political, and cultural levels, and affects the cultural, ethnic and national identity of the individual. Members of the same national, ethnic, or religious community in a foreign country thus create natural diasporas that help preserve the traditions, cultural specificities, and values of their homeland. Slovaks living abroad are no exception and form diasporas in more than 25 countries of the world. In this context, the aim of the paper is to identify social and economic possibilities of supporting the Slovak diaspora in France. To achieve the goal, we analyze secondary data collected from 2019 to 2023. We find out that the support of the Slovak diaspora in France is focused mainly on educational activities and support of children and youth. However, financial assistance to support activities has been decreasing since 2020. Our findings are formulated as a case study, the aim of which is to bring closer the current state of the Slovak diaspora and outline possibilities for their improvement in the future.

AnnotationThere is a lack of resources about allofiction, a kind of autobiographical wri- ting. It is important to define and introduce the term to the wider academic community. doi.org/10.15452/SR.2023.23.0009 1 ORCID : 0000-0002-6596-5685 2 ORCID : 0000-0002-1246-1889 This work is licenced under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license for non-commercial purposes. 72Artículos y estudios – Articles et études – Articoli e studi → Studia Romanistica Vol. 23, Num. 2/2023 This study aims to analyze and clarify allofiction by examinating the novel Premier sang (2021) written by Belgian novelist Amélie Nothomb. Authors rely on the concept of Serge Doubrovsky developed in Après-vivre (1994) where allofiction is part of autofiction. Ano- ther important aspect of the novel in question is a quest for the identity of the author. It is assumed that Amélie Nothomb reveals through allofiction her Belgian, family, professional and sexual identity, linked to her family past, or family memory. The results of our research confirm that the narrative of the novel reveals a significant number of identity traits. The Belgian identity is prevalent and mixed with the family identity, namely Belgian nobility and the professional identity, while underlining her multicultural character, such as being a singer of Japanese Noh and an admirer of Rimbaud.

AnnotationIn this article we focus on internet memes that have become an important genre of online communication, as internet users have created a new visual language: not only in form, but also in meaning (often very satiric). Internet memes relate to the Web 2.0 phenomenon, where users can access hundreds of meme templates, images, or short videos, and can assign them a specific meaning. The aim of this article is to theoretically define the “memetic visual language” with specific background, forms, and rules for creating and decoding it. In the empirical part of paper, we present a selection of examples put forward by the Slovak project ZOMRI, meant to demonstrate without pathos, but with humour, the power of internet memes to depict the personality of Slovak president Zuzana Caputova.
