Descr. kolektívne monografie - collective monographies Language English Country Slovak Republic Annotation Bibliographies provide basic scientific information, illustrate quality and intensity of research in a particular topic, area, or time, and thus help build a cultural-historical perspective of society’s appreciation of knowledge and education. Here we provide a bibliography of herpetological research in the region of Slovakia between the years 1791 and 2017. We collected 2,183 references authored by 1,453 different authors and covering all species of amphibians (18) and reptiles (13) occurring in Slovakia and, in addition, amphibian and reptile taxa occurring in 94 other countries. Most of the contributions were published in popular magazines and non-indexed journals, while only about 12% of all references represent scientific articles from journals indexed in relevant scientific databases. The xtensiveness of study on amphibians and reptiles has varied among different periods within the selected time frame. However, an obvious intensification in the field of herpetology can be observed, especially during the second half of the 20th century. While there have only been few professionals specialized in herpetology, an important role in promoting the research and conservation of amphibians and reptiles in Slovakia has been played by non-governmental organizations and hobbyists. The most frequent type of herpetological data in the referenced literature comes from faunistic research, followed by conservation and general information on herpetofauna, with the majority of published articles in indexed journals coming from the fields of palaeontology, phylogeography, and population genetics. The presented bibliography is the first step towards building a solid base for future systematic herpetological research in the country and Central Europe. Despite this fact, the chorological status of this species is lacking in Slovakia, and knowledge on its distribution has for a long-time been fragmented. We gathered and analysed all available occurrence data on the fire salamander, comprising in total 1,663 faunistic records made up of published data, original data of the authors and collaborators, and citizen data from the Internet and database resources. Most findings of active salamanders come from the period from spring to autumn, and they together cover 242 mapping quadrates recorded in 73 orographic units, predominantly in wooded areas. Most of the records are from an altitude range of 200–900 m, with a histogram peak at altitudes from 300–500 m. The highest number of findings was linked to the traditionally most surveyed areas, such as the Malé Karpaty Mts., Veľká Fatra Mts., Malá Fatra Mts., Spišsko-gemerský kras Mts., Slovenské rudohorie Mts., etc. We confirmed that the occurrence of this species in caves and other underground roosts during the winter season seems to be a general behaviour pattern of the species Public work category ADF No. of Archival Copy 34260 Repercussion category TURBANOV, Ilya S. - KUKUSHKIN, Oleg - VARGOVITSH, Robert S. In the years 2008-2009 8 amphibian species (Lissotriton vulgaris, Bombina bombina, B. variegata, Bufo bufo, Rana temporaria, R. dalamtina, Pelophylax kl. esculentus, P. ridibundus) were recorded in this reservoirs. The most common species were Rana temporaria and Rana dalmatina. The density of amphibians were higher in the water dams Hrušov (6 species) and Kozí Vrbovok (5 species). Lučenec (Slovensko) Language Slovak Country Slovak Republic systematics 59 Annotation Systematic research of the Eurasian otter occurrence, changes of their distribution and limiting factors in a broad Lučenec region has been carried out since 1994. Data on the occurrence and some factors of otter in the surrounding of Lučenec town (in a part of the Ipeľ river with tributaries Krivánsky potok, Tuhársky potok, Budínsky potok, Slatinka, Mašková, Velický potok and Mučínsky potok) recorded in 2007-2008 are summarised in this paper. The survey was undertaken by examining special sites (bridges) for otter signs (spraints, smears, tracks). Some environemtantal factors (f. e. bankside vegetation) were observed and identified. The otter occurs along nearly of all of mapping streams. The study of otter distribution was carried out in autumn 2007 and winter 2007/2008 by a modified IUCN Otter Specialist Group method in 6 quadrats (7583, 7584, 7683, 7684, 7783, 7784) of the Slovak Fauna Databank (DFS) grid (11,2 x 12 km). All of the 6 quadrats being positive. In the study area 29 bridges were evaluated and 5 from them were assesed not suitable for safe under-passes for otter.
