Descr. príspevky v zborníku - proceedings papers Language Slovak Country Slovak Republic Annotation The aim of the contribution is to theoretically define the multidimensional nature of communicative language competence in the context of the labour market needs. Language economics contains the intersection among economic, language and political processes and their components. The subject of research is the language competence of young people in the countries of the European Union and Slovakia. The object of research is the international and domestic labour market. In the contribution, we use secondary data collected from international and domestic statistical portals. We find out that language asymmetry hinders economic flow and active knowledge of a foreign language has a direct impact on employability on the labour market. Therefore, we see the development of language competence as an investment that supports integration in the labour market. We find that among young Slovaks, language competence in English dominates, which copies the development in the countries of the European Union. In the last observed periods, language competence in the Russian language is also increasing in Slovakia. As part of the submitted contribution, we are implementing a pilot case study, the aim of which is to bring this topic to the Slovak professional public and to link economics and language through research. Descr. príspevky v zborníku - proceedings papers Language English Country Slovak Republic Annotation Migrations are part of human civilization development and are related to changing living conditions. The integration of migrants into society in a new country takes place at the socioeconomic, civic-political, and cultural levels, and affects the cultural, ethnic and national identity of the individual. Members of the same national, ethnic, or religious community in a foreign country thus create natural diasporas that help preserve the traditions, cultural specificities, and values of their homeland. Slovaks living abroad are no exception and form diasporas in more than 25 countries of the world. In this context, the aim of the paper is to identify social and economic possibilities of supporting the Slovak diaspora in France. To achieve the goal, we analyze secondary data collected from 2019 to 2023. We find out that the support of the Slovak diaspora in France is focused mainly on educational activities and support of children and youth. However, financial assistance to support activities has been decreasing since 2020. Our findings are formulated as a case study, the aim of which is to bring closer the current state of the Slovak diaspora and outline possibilities for their improvement in the future. Descr. príspevky v zborníku - proceedings papers Language English Country RS Annotation Today, cities and communities face the challenge of how to maintain urban culture and develop the social and cultural capital of individuals, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The answer lies in the intersection between Industry 4.0 and marketing tools that can effectively mediate a cultural experience or cultural service in a virtual space. The chapter aims to point out the use of modern marketing tools in local tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic. The main method of the paper is a case study, carried out on selected examples of cultural institutions in Ostrava, Czech Republic. The obtained results show that even after the COVID-19 pandemic, new marketing tools will gain a permanent place in the provision of cultural services and thus also in tourism. This will make urban culture more accessible, open and transparent. At the same time, we assume that thanks to the application of virtual tools, the age limit for the target group of consumers of cultural services will be shifted from the older productive class to young people up to 30 years of age. Descr. články - journal articles Language English Country Poland Annotation Young people are often considered as a driver of democratic progress and development in a country. Thus, civic education alongside freedom of speech, human rights, the rule of law, etc. should constitute cornerstones in advanced societies. The aim of this article is to evaluate the prevalence of the concept of human rights and European values in materials used for civic education in Slovakia. The authors conducted a comprehensive content analysis of 289 domestic and foreign materials and publications used in secondary education schools. While researching the content, we also consulted teachers to identify the main challenges for civic education. The research results show that the human rights and European values are growing in importance and gaining stronger positions in civic education in Slovakia. Descr. kapitoly v knihe - book chapters Language English Country Germany Annotation The European active citizenship is a concept that has been developed in Slovak society for 15 years since Slovakia's accession to the Member States of the European Union. It has not been comprehensively researched to this day. The aim of the paper is to interpret the results of the research survey conducted in the project #ShareEU. The main goal is to find out the answer to the question whether we can consider Slovak citizens active in the European context. We consider the formation of the European active citizenship in Slovakia to be the subject of the research. The object of the research is the Slovak society represented by the respondents. A questionnaire survey conducted on 100 respondents is the main method of work. The results of the survey will be part of an international comparison in the future. We also address results to the public, which is interested in participating and developing of the European active citizenship (not only) in Slovakia.
