They have steadily increased their share of learning from 2017 to 2023 according to more than 800 companies from all world regions in Future of Jobs Report (2023). The role of emotions has been studied in decades and emotion regulation has drawn much attention also in the education (Neve et al., 2023, Martin, & Ochsner, 2016, Jacobs, & Gross, 2014, Fried, 2011). Emotion regulation is a critical life skill that can facilitate learning and improve educational outcomes. Although the relationship between emotion regulation and emotional intelligence has been studied, potential mechanisms that might account for this relationship are still unclear also within personality space. The study analyzes emotion regulation in the context of trait emotional intelligence model and emotional intelligence model as an ability through potential mediating role of personality traits assessed in a sample of 152 Slovak high school students (Mage=18.56, SD=.64, 56% of females). The level of emotion regulation was assessed by Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form (TEIQue-SF; Petrides, 2009) and its factor of self-control, Brief Emotional Intelligence Scale (BEIS, Davies et al., 2010), and its two domains: regulation of own emotions and regulation of other´s emotion, and NEO Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI, Costa & McCrae, adapted by Ruisel & Halama, 2007). The statistical Pearson analysis proved positive moderate significant relation between self-control from TEIQue-SF and regulation of own emotions from BEIS (r=.436***) and weak positive relation with regulation of other´s emotion (r=.237**). The partial correlation analyses estimated self-control and regulation of own emotions in positive weak and significant relation while controlling for all Big Five personality traits (r=.189*) and no relation between these two variables while controlling for Big Five traits. The study verifies the construct validity of the emotion regulation construct in the context of emotional intelligence and personality traits, also methodological limits, and possible future empirical verifications and practical applications. Emotion regulation relevance in educational setting is emphasized with practical implications for diagnostics and intervention within socio-emotional skills training. Descr. príspevky v zborníku - proceedings papers Language Slovak Country Slovak Republic Annotation Štúdia prezentuje posúdenie vzájomnej komplementarity troch dotazníkov emocionálnej inteligencie. Testovali sme konštruktovú validitu troch dotazníkov – Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire – short form (TEIQue SF, Petrides, 2009; v slovenskom preklade Kaliská, Nábělková, 2015), Brief Emotional Intelligence Scale (BEIS, Davies, Lane, Devonport, & Scott, 2010) a Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS, Wong & Law, 2002). Výskumný súbor tvorilo 267 respondentov (27.78 % mužov, AMage = 21.08, SDage = 3.30). Výsledky poukazujú na stredne silnú až silnú pozitívnu koreláciu medzi jednotlivými faktormi všetkých troch škál. Prvotné psychometrické overovanie prinieslo uspokojivé výsledky vzhľadom na konštruktovú validitu všetkých troch dotazníkov a zároveň ponúka priestor na ďalšie overovanie či štandardizáciu dvoch použitých metodík BEIS a WLEIS, ako aj ich (zatiaľ) vedecké využitie. Descr. príspevky v zborníku - proceedings papers Language English Country Spain Annotation The study theoretically and empirically analyzes trait emotional intelligence (EI) potential in the context of transformational leadership by self-report tools: a global level of trait EI and its four factors (well-being, self-control, emotionality, sociability) by TEIQue-SF (Petrides, 2009, adapted to the Slovak conditions by Kaliská, Heinzová & Nábělková, 2019) and five leadership practices (Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act, Encourage the Heart) by Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI, Kouzes & Posner, 2017, adapted by Kaliská & Heinzová, 2022) of the Slovak future teachers as potential educational transformative leaders in Slovakia (N=121, Mage=41-4, /SD=11.4/; 84% of females). Statistically significant positive moderate to strong relations between global level of trait EI and sociability factor and five leadership practices were proved (.29≤r≤.49). There were high significant differences between the leaders with high and low EI level in all five leadership practices in favor to the ones with a high trait EI level. The study emphasizes the importance of emotionally intelligent and competent behavior of a leader who is trying to transform our educational systems for the purpose of addressing and reaching common school aims. Descr. články - journal articles Language English Country Spain Annotation Trait anxiety and self-esteem, as indicators of well-being, have been understudied in the literature that examines the relationship between emotional intelligence and well-being in adolescent development. Anxiety and self-esteem are emotion-based factors in adolescent personality and are expected to be related to Trait Emotional Intelligence (TEI) as an adaptive emotion-based capacity. The objective of the study is to examine the unique contributions of TEI on trait anxiety and self-esteem in adolescents in the context of personality. The study involved 807 adolescents ages 16-19 from central Slovakia and examined the predictive relationship of TEI (as measured by the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, TEIQue-ASF) separately on self-esteem and on trait anxiety after considering broad based personality (as measured by the Freiburger´s Personality Inventory, FPI) and cognitive abilities (assessed by Amthauer´s Intelligence Structure Test, IST). The results showed that TEI has strong bivariate correlations with both trait anxiety (r =-.65) and self-esteem (r = .62) that maintained significance in the regression analyses. With trait anxiety as a dependent variable the explained variance by TEIQue-ASF factors above personality traits was 6%. With self-esteem as the dependent variable TEIQue-ASF factors explained a greater amount of variance (9%) with none of the personality traits as significant. The overall findings suggest that TEI is an important factor in adolescent well-being through its associations with lower trait anxiety and higher self-esteem.
