Descr. články - journal articles Language English Country Croatia Annotation Education, support of science and research currently represent one of the key factors supporting the dynamics of economic growth and development, both at the regional and global level. In the context of the indicated development, both within the European integration area and individual member states, there is a gradual implementation of projects focused on the reform of educational systems in order to increase the level and quality of education and its close connection with the needs of current social and economic practice. A highly qualified workforce possessing the necessary knowledge, competences and skills represents the core and at the same time the engine of supporting the growth and development of individual economic sectors and increasing the degree of their achieved competitiveness. Currently, almost every economic or social entity is confront with the need to constantly improve and respond flexibly to the needs and demands coming from its external environment, which leads to the need to innovate and improve internal structures and processes in relation to prevailing trends. The results of the educational process transformed into a qualified workforce can significantly help to correctly identify and appropriately and purposefully adapt to these trends. In this direction, the emphasis on the necessity to connect education with the field of science and research is predominant, which represents key factors supporting economic growth and increasing competitiveness. Descr. články - journal articles Language English Country Bosnia and Herzegovina Annotation The paper examines the relationship between different sources of funding for research and developmentat universities. Following the European Commission methodology, we distinguished between government,business and abroad financing of research and development (R&D) in the higher education sector. The paperaims to test short-run and long-run relationships between different funding sources. We are focused on therelationship between government and business funding of R&D at universities. Based on panel data for EUcountries, we applied the Granger causality tests and General methods of moments to examine short-runcausality and cointegrating regression to search for potential long-run relationships. Our results suggest thatgovernment funding of R&D act as a complement to business funding. Hence, rising government financialsupport for research in higher education can, lead to higher funding from the business sector. Descr. príspevky v zborníku - proceedings papers Language Slovak Country Czech Republic Annotation Most domestic science and research organisations have at least partially implemented some elements of science and research ethics in their activities in recent years. However, this fact cannot be considered as an indicator of increasing ethical awareness or sensitivity on the part of these organisations, because to a large extent the implementation of ethical tools in their operation is rather "forced" by foreign partners or it is a proclamatory implementation that does not fundamentally change the operation of the organisation. In our paper we will focus on the reflection of the importance of effective implementation in the operation of a scientific research organization in two steps: first, we will emphasize the fact that without ethical parameterization, scientific research becomes a threat rather than an opportunity, which in turn implies that the ethical setting of the scientific research environment is a crucial element in building the reputation of a scientific research organization.
