Československo Language Slovak Country Czech Republic systematics 93/94 Annotation Political preferences of towns in Slovakia in the 1929 parliamentary election – this article examines historical patterns in the political preferences of Slovakia’s urban population based on the results of the 1929 democratic parliamentary election. Within the group of 114 towns existing at that time, the authors define nine types of towns with specific patterns of political preferences, identified by using the cluster analysis. Individual types are named according to the dominant political orientation. These types are also characterized in terms of their geographic location, size, ethnic origin and religious makeup, which is essential to explain spatial electoral patterns of the day. The article also delineates the position of individual towns and their clusters in relation to the main cleavages centre/periphery, conservatism/secularism, right/left) existing within the party system in interwar Slovakia URL Link na zdrojový dokument Public work category ADM No. of Archival Copy 43105 Repercussion category PRZYBYLA, Vojtech. Slovensko Language Slovak Country Slovak Republic systematics 910.1 Annotation The article identifies and analyses the patterns of potential and real political representation of Slovak regions in the 2016 parliamentary elections. The issue of political representation of regions is a very interesting topic in the specific conditions of the electoral system in Slovakia (the whole country being a single constituency). The article offers an original methodology, on the basis of which it is possible to identify the pattern of regional distribution of candidates of the political parties. We identified a positive correlation between this patterns and the spatial voting patterns found in most political parties. At the same time, the pattern of real political representation of the regions was analysed based on the number of elected deputies. When looking at the pattern at the national level, the capital city region clearly dominates. At the lower regional level there is a domination of the districts with the regional cities, i.e. the metropolitan regions.
