    AnotáciaEconomic power of both companies and national economies is still rising in long-term period. After each crisis starts a new wave of growth. Therefore it is natural that in almost each industry it is possible to identify one or several leaders which have prevailing position in the set of their competitors. In some industries based on such development it may happen that individual company reach monopoly position or several companies will join their effort following the same objective in unofficial way. All those activities are limiting free business and violating competition. This article is dealing just with the national and multinational companies position at the market and with misusage of own economic power in European Union and in Slovakia. It describes crucial aspects of antimonopoly policy and basics of law regulation in the world and specifically in Slovakia. It brings basic examples of companies breaking antimonopoly regulation from the point of view of state aid, misusage of dominant position, antitrust rules and mergers
