    AnotáciaThe paper focuses on the theme of the city as a cultural landscape and points out the use of art in public space. We pay attention to the coexistence of historical and present forms of a city characteristic identity. The question is the quality of city’s identity public performance through the work of arts, and at the same time, the functions of a public space that are performed. Because in addition to building an identity, a city should also preserve the collective memory. The aim of paper is therefore to point out the trends of how we approach the building of the urban cultural landscape using works of art, and how we create urban culture in a city. In the paper we present examples from Banská Bystrica.
