Due to this fact, the demographic phenomena in the Upper-Hron region are characteristic by a certain spatial heterogeneity. Consequently, the necessity to divide this territory into smaller homogeneous territorial units for practical purposes, as well as for the purposes of selected demographic characteristics, appears to be inevitable
