Pondelíková, Ivana, Styková, 1981- K otázke svetovej literatúry písanej po anglicky = On world literature written in English / Ivana Styková. -- At present, it is no longer privilege of English-speaking countries to write in English. The fact that English is a world language and also because of the colonial past of the Eastern countries, literary texts written in English also appeared here in recent years. There are novels from exotic environments emerging on the book markets. These are written by both the representatives of the Western or Eastern cultures. In this article we focus on a novel that brings the readers of the Western world the “otherness” of the Muslim cultures. This “otherness” is mediated through the personal experience of a writer who is a representative of the Western world. We have applied grounded theory principles and basic thoughts of orientalism in our research.
