V rámci výskumu bolo vyšetrených 662 novorodencov (321 dievčat a 341 chlapcov) narodených v roku 2004 v nemocnici v Martine. Ako vyplýva z výsledkov výskumu pôrodná hmotnosť a dĺžka novorodencov súvisí s ich gestačným vekom. Chlapci boli o 88,4 g ťažší ako dievčatá. Vzťah medzi vekom matky a pôrodnou hmotnosťou novorodencov nebol štatisticky významný. Pôrodná hmotnosť chlapov narodených cisárskym rezom bola nižšia v porovnaní s pôrodnou hmotnosťou chlapcov narodených normálnym fyziologickým pôrodom. Rozdiely u dievčat neboli štatisticky významné. Development of a newborns optimum body size and weight depends on a number of maternal and environmental factors. Altogether, 662 newborn infants (321 girls, 341 boys) born in 2004 at the Hospital in Martin were examined. The results indicate that the birth weight and birth length correlate with the gestation age. Male infants were by 88.4 g heavier than the female ones. Correlation between the age of mother and the newborn’s birth weight was not significant. According to the results, the birth weights for boys born by normal accouchement and those born by section are different. In the case of section, the birth weight of newborns was lower. Differences between birth weights of normal born girls and girls born by section were not significant - Res. angl.
