The article deals with the factors of castles and chateaux in Slovakia. The aim of the article is to propose the possibilities of increasing the visitation of selected castles and chateaux. The theoretical part identifies the factors of visitations of castles and chateaux and deals also with the motivation and expectations of visitors. The analytical part examines the questionnaire survey among visitors, as well as the attitudes of marketing managers focused on the evaluation of visitation factors of selected castles and chateaux. The research was done in the castles of Orava, Trenčín and Červený Kameň and in chateaux of Bojnice and Banská Štiavnica. The article concludes with recommendations aimed at the incensement of visitation of analysed castles and chateaux
