The position of the V4 countries on Kosovo question

Balco, Martin, 1988- The position of the V4 countries on Kosovo question / Martin Balco, Hana Vermešová. -- When Kosovo unilaterally declared independence from Serbia in early 2008, a number of politicians believed that so-called Kosovo question would be finally settled. As it turned out, it was not the case. The international community and the EU itself have since remained divided on the issue. The situation is analogous within the Visegrad Group. We analysed the situation of the V4 countries in their domestic and foreign policy with regard to several areas which we find indicative, i.e. their position to Kosovo`s declaration of independence and its current status, further development of relations with Kosovo and involvement of the V4countries in Kosovo. The study suggests that instead of a simple cleavage between the three countries that recognized Kosovo and one that did not, we can rather talk of four different approaches and policies. As a result, adopting a common platform and having a strong position in the region is quite difficult for the V4. Still, there are areas concerning Kosovo
