Ekologické procesy po smršti v NPR Tichá dolina (TANAP) vo svetle termodynamickej teórie ekologických systémov / Peter Sabo, Ján Topercer. -- Scientific recognition of the overshoot of several Earth’s ecological boundaries urges the search for alternatives to conventional ecosystem management. We provide some new evidence supporting the autoorganizational forces in forest ecosystems hit by large disturbances. Our approach builds on the theories of non-equilibrium thermodynamics, ecological complexity, ecological succession and disturbance and on the results of 7-year field research in the Tichá dolina valley after a windthrow in 2004. The results show that 1) reorganization phase α in the lower part of the valley lasted 5–6 years, whereas in the middle part it still continues due to phase shift; 2) its length varies according to measure used (changes in bird abundances give narrower estimate than in species richness and turnover). Taking into account also few basic ecosystem properties we provide some recommendations for ecosystem approach to management of forest ecosystems in nature reserves
