During the bipolar Cold War conflict they were supposed to work as a decisive means not only to maintain the homeland security and protect national interests at home and abroad, but also to provide security for the allied countries. Therefore the research within this study focused its attention on the above discussed issues through the analytical and comparative study of phenomena such as theoretical sources and content of US Cold War strategies, their strategic goals, prospects, possibilities, as well as disparities between given tasks, limits and real needs to lessen Soviet military threats and intentions.
