$a Even with the same methodological training and support materials, there are different ways in which many teachers use innovation in their teaching. It depends not only on teachers’ experience but also on their individual conception of teaching. The contribution focuses on identifying the specific causes of variance in teachers´ ability to use inductive and innovative elements in their teaching, in relation to their view of teaching itself. The research, carried out by a qualitative approach, took place on a sample of 4 teachers with an indicated different ability to apply the suggested (inductive) teaching methods. By analysing transcripts of individual semi-structured interviews with teachers through grounded theory, we conclude that there are specific casual conditions that affect the success of using innovative teaching techniques. Identifying these causes can have a direct impact on teacher education. For example, by increasing the teachers´ view of topic difficulty or view of pupils’ potential we can increase the success of using innovative methods in science education 463 -1
