AnotáciaTelehealth cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is a feasible and effective alternative to conventional outpatient CR. Present evidence is limited on the comparison of exercise intensity adherence in telehealth and outpatient CR. The purpose of the study was to evaluate and compare training intensity adherence through 12-week phase II CR in telehealth and outpatient CR. A sample of 56 patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) with a mean age of 56.7 ± 7.1 entering comprehensive secondary prevention phase II was randomized into telehealth CR (n = 28) and control outpatient CR (n = 28) groups. The primary outcome was a comparison of training intensity adherence in both CR models and heart rate (HR) response from individual CR sessions, expressed by the HR reserve percentage. As a result, the parameter HR reserve percentage as the total average of the training intensity during the telehealth intervention and the outpatient CR did not differ statistically (p = 0.63). There was no death case, and all severe adverse cases required medical admission throughout an exercise training session in study subjects in both groups. This research evidence demonstrated that the telehealth CR model is similar in training intensities to the conventional outpatient CR in CAD patients with low to moderate cardiovascular risk.

AnotáciaAbstract View references (37) The first cases of COVID-19 were initially recorded in December 2019 in Wuhan, the capital of China’s Hubei Province. The situation quickly escalated and turned into a global pandemic. COVID-19 is a highly infectious respiratory disease that leads to decreased respiratory, physical, and psychological function of affected patients (2). Patients’ symptoms widely vary; from asymptomatic course to severe symptoms. Decrease in physical function, and, in some cases, a persistence of symptoms may be observed in patients, who overcame the infection period. Rehabilitation represents a potential treatment option for COVID-19 patients in post-infection period. Rehabilitation therapies may help to restore physical function in patients and to reduce the long-term effects of COVID19 infection

AnotáciaAbstract View references (63) Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women. Physical activity is crucial for the prevention of the disease. The diagnosis of breast cancer, the process of the disease and its treatment significantly reduces the level of physical activity, well-being and quality of life. The most widely used rehabilitation therapies include physical exercise, manual techniques for pain relief and physical therapy. One of the main goals of rehabilitation involves improving the quality of life. Rehabilitation for breast cancer includes three parts: preoperative, perioperative and postoperative parts. The main kinds of exercise include strength and aerobic training. An important element of comprehensive rehabilitation is focusing on the increase in the range of movement in the shoulder on the operated side. The literature also indicates an improvement in the quality of life and fatigue in rehabilitation of breast cancer patients. © 2021, Czech Medical Association J.E. Purkyne. All rights reserved.

AnotáciaIntroduction: Cachexia is defined as a syndrome of multifactorial etiology characterized by severe weight loss, loss of muscle and fat mass and increase in protein catabolism. Cachexia in cancer is a predominant and debilitating syndrome. Sarcopenia is a primary disease of older age characterized by loss of muscle mass due to the aging process. Sarcopenia can be defined as a combination of low muscle strength and muscle mass. Sarcopenia often occurs in the geriatric population. Method: This is a review article, search for articles in Pubmed database, JCR and Cochrane database was made with the following keywords: “sarcopenia”, “cachexia”, “rehabilitation” and “exercise”. Result: The main therapy of rehabilitation is exercise. Exercise can reduce the inflammatory response induced by cachexia or sarcopenia. Exercise can support autophagy. Physical activity can slow down weight loss and improve skeletal muscle function. Adequate strength exercise and aerobic exercise are important benefits for patients. Strength and aerobic exercise increase muscle strength and function and represent an important treatment strategy for cachexia and sarcopenia. Conclusion: Rehabilitation treatment is an important part of treatment for patients with cachexia and sarcopenia.
