AnotáciaThis paper discusses the implementation of various teaching resources of e-learning. E-learning helps to define different models and strategies in the teaching process. Traditional teaching methods may not be sufficient when it comes to developing a strategy or a common project from which both parties (teacher-student) can benefit. However, at present, specialized didactics that pursue their objectives without the utilization of technology, will no longer be able to propose a new model of education for a teacher-researcher. The most pressing issue is, how can teachers, who are not experts in modern technologies, make different e-learning platforms work? How should a teacher implement a series of tools that make the class sufficiently effective? This paper follows Don Morrison's approach, which states that: "An e-learning strategy operates at micro and macro levels. (...) It's important not to confuse strategic thinking regarding the e-learning strategy with strategic planning"*. Therefore, the planning of a certain number of strategies for the class would require the elaboration of a detailed and thorough plan of the actions to be carried out and to achieve set objectives. Since the links between elearning and teaching strategies are not so explicit, mechanisms must be established to associate educational actions with the means to express them. In conclusion, the main goal is to demonstrate the effectiveness of the tools that provide learning through technology and information media. To observe the degree of fulfillment of the hypotheses raised, we have studied how the teachers of a language class interact and implement electronic tools or web resources in their courses, and what is their potential effectiveness in the teaching tasks that were raised. Firstly, we will investigate whether the teacher acts as a mediator only or guides the process along with the electronic tools. Secondly, we will study whether the students must carry out the tasks using these electronic platforms; at the same time the teacher observes whether both the control group and the second group have developed, improved or modified their linguistic habits and behavior in learning a second language. The groups will have a meeting through a videoconference tool, record a conversation on video and finally they will fill in a brief questionnaire about the topic they have discussed. The results in the first phase of the research have shown that e-learning has a relatively high impact on language learning if the tools are adapted to the learning itself. However, the need for a teacher to control the process or help the student to solve the problem is essential. In this paper, we will focus on presenting the partial results of this research.

AnotáciaThe study presents research results solved by project VEGA No. 1/0455/18 named "Research and Development of Reading Enthusiasm with Younger Learners. We examined the social context of the young readers from Slovak schools. The research sample consisted of 693 younger and 534 older elementary school students. We created specific subgroups of reading level based on the sequential theory resulting from respondents‘ answers in focused interviews: reader enthusiast “A” , reader with interest “I”, non-reader without problems “G”, non-reader with problems “N”. We took into account the respondents' relationship to reading and the level of their reading. Our research instrument (47 items questionnaire) revealed the reader's characters, the social context of their reading, and his/her reading preferences. In this paper we focus on the social context of reading in the comparison of younger and older pupils classified into specific groups. The results of the research show statistical differences in the responses of younger and older pupils. Fewer older than younger pupils say that parents enjoy when he/she is reading. Younger pupils read more than older, and most pupils in both groups do not like to read aloud to classmates. Mothers most often advise what to read in the case of younger children, older students respect more friend when need some advices about reading. Parental authority and sharing of reading interests with parents decreases dependently on the age. Respondents‘ friends replace parents. Teachers in both age groups are advisors for only about 6% of pupils, which is deplorably low. The paper focuses on comparing the social context of reading in the subgroups A I G N. Based on the results of the research, we have formulated our recommendations for developing the reading of students at school and children in the families

AnotáciaThis study presents further research results solved by project VEGA VEGA 1/0455/18 - Research and Development of Reading of Younger School Pupils. It follows the results published in the article Social context of child reading in ontogenetic comparison (hereby: Babiaková, S. - Kasáčová, B.). In this text, the social preferences of younger pupils have been compared internationally. There were three research samples of pupils aged 10-11 who attend the 4th year of primary education. The research samples consisted of 693 Slovak children, 254 Czech pupils and 268 Polish pupils. All samples of respondents were divided into four groups according to the reader level by the same strategy. We created specific subgroups of reading level based on sequential theory resulting from respondents´ answers in focused interviews: reader enthusiast “A”, reader with interest “I”, non-reader without problems “G”, non-reader with problems “N ". We focused on comparing Slovak, Czech and Polish children according to how some factors in the social context in three countries correlated the reading of different reading levels. The results show significant differences in the responses of Slovak, Czech and Polish pupils. Less Polish than Slovak pupils say that parents enjoy their reading. Polish pupils less than Slovak and Czech like to read to somebody. Most pupils in all national groups do not like reading aloud in front of the whole class. All groups are most often consulted with their mother when choosing reading, Slovak children are least consulted with their father. They discuss most about their reading experience with their mother, less with their father. Teachers are rarely mentioned as counselors in all national samples. The paper also focuses on the comparison of the social context of reading subgroups: A - reader enthusiast, I - reader with interest, G - reader without problems, N - reader with problems. Based on the results of our research, we tried to find and compare experiences from three countries, SK, CZ, PL and formulate “good experiences” for developing pupils' reading in school and in the family.

AnotáciaThis paper is focused on the issues of interpreter training, specifically in public-service interpreting, which is used by schools, hospitals, police stations, various public offices, etc. In an increasingly globalized world we are witnessing the phenomenon of migration which, due to the circumstances migrants face, sometimes results in the loss of human life. With the desire to start a new life, immigrants leave their culture and embark on an adventure in search of economic, social or political well-being in a foreign country about which they often know truly little. Once they have overcome the often-dangerous journey, they come up against other obstacles such as xenophobia and ignorance of the host country’s legal norms or culture. A major problem is often the language barrier, which can be overcome to some extent by well-prepared and trained interpreters. This paper tries to show the (in)sufficient training of future interpreters for public services, also called community interpreters, both in Slovakia (the authors' country of origin) and in Spain (since Spanish is their second working language in interpreting classes). The findings resulted from a survey on interpreters’ assistance in the daily work of police officers conducted at one of the provincial departments of the Slovak Police Force. The linguistic and (multi)cultural conditions and situations that interpreters must face require specific training that should be carried out during their university studies. The paper specifies such a process by proposing a series of activities and exercises that will help future interpreters to orient themselves on the subject of community interpreting and related legislation, emphasizing that a translator or interpreter is not only a person with a mastery of languages, but at the same time an intercultural mediator, and therefore has to develop a complex of linguistic, sociolinguistic and cultural competencies.
